“Meditation is the only intentional, systematic human activity which at bottom is about not trying to improve yourself or get anywhere else, but simply to realize where you already are.” ― Jon Kabat-Zinn, from the book → Wherever You Go, There You Are
From a mental health perspective, the phrase "Self Improvement" is 'so' overrated it makes me gag just hearing those words. Already I have linked a few video guides on the subject of mediation that are further linked to the promotion of one's self in ways that feed the monkey mind. I can't help but feel that's a double bind. Dynamics such as obtaining More Money, More Things, More Health, Becoming More Attractive and Obtaining The Holy Grail - AKA The Secret.
I mean not to imply that more money, health, good looks and obtaining the holy grail are necessarily bad things - not at all. I am however wary of the the precarious nature that comes with such desires as they relate to one's ... true intentions. _____________________________
It was the above video that first lead me to crossing paths with Jon Kabat-Zin. A most humble guru in all areas of Mindfulness. I remember this video being one of the first where I found the desire and patience to start watching one hour + videos. I went on to acquire his book (linked in the above quote) in audio form and have since listened to it several times.
Oh I wanted to post it, but you were faster. I am reading or listening (audiobook) constantly. JOn is my love, he saved me when I went so down, I thought I would never go up again. Here I am enjoying my life, and appreciating every day
